Ninety-One - Week 1

In this new series Ninety-One we are going to journey through the life of Jesus. For the next 91 days we will we are going to see Jesus and who He encountered. We are going to listen to His teachings and conversations through the eyes and ears of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. If we believe that these gospel writers give us a reliable account of the life of Jesus, then what they observed and wrote should answer all of our questions.

In week 1 of Ninety-One, Mark shares with us the introduction of Jesus. He shares how John the Baptist shouted in the wilderness to clear the way for the Lords coming. We see through John's account ( not to get confused with John the Baptist, but John the gospel writer)  that John the Baptist came as a witness to testify about the light ( Jesus), so that many would believe through him. He (John the Baptist) was not the light but he came to testify about the light (Jesus). The true light that gives light to everyone that was coming into this world.

1. Read Luke 3:1. Why does Luke start out by naming all of these leaders?
2. What do we know about who John the Baptist is?
3. What was John the Baptist mission?
4. When John the Baptist was testifying about the coming Messiah, he was calling people to repent and be baptized. What are some ways that you can use your actions, as well as your words, to testify about Jesus?
5. Jesus came into the world under the old covenant, to usher in a new covenant and cancel out the old. The first covenant was between God and a Nation. What was the second covenant, the new covenant that Jesus established?
6. Jesus came to establish 3 new things. What are those things? ( check out the video at 1:08:00 mark)
